You can discuss the curriculum with your child
The overview for our learning this half-term is ‘SUPER HEROES’. This will focus around three books: 'Look Up' by Nathan Byron, 'Super Duper You' by Sophy Henn and 'Super Worm' by Julia Donaldson. These will help the children learn about the being super and resilient in different ways, and will also help them to learn that we all have super hero qualities, such as being super kind, super helpful, super brave, super strong and super clever! This will stimulate our circle time session around 'we are special and unique in our own individual way’, and we will use and say the sentence ‘I am super because ….’
Please spend a few minutes chatting with your child and ask them some simple questions such as: Do they know any Super Heroes? What super hero magic would like to have and why? Who are the super heroes that help us every day? What might you like to be when you are grown up? Would you like to be an astronaut and visit space? What might you see there?
Write your child’s ideas, questions and comments in the speech bubble below and return this back to the Turtle Class team.

The Early Learning Goals
Our curriculum supports our children to meet the Early Learning Goals. You can find out more below:
The Reception Baseline Assessment
Children in reception will be participating in the reception baseline assessment within the first 6 weeks of them starting. The purpose of the assessment is to provide the starting point for a progress measure that will help parents understand how well schools support their pupils to progress between reception and year 6.
The reception baseline assessment is a short, interactive and practical assessment of your child’s early literacy, communication, language and mathematics skills when they begin school, using materials that most children of your child’s age will be familiar with. You can find an information leaflet below:
